Border collie puppy ignores me. Hi Austin, thanks for your brilliant posts, just what I had been looking for. We have a 19mth old border collie Yogi Bear and his pet hate is joggers, if he sees them in the park he chases after them trying to nip them. so therefore we now walk him on a long leash which is a shame as we cant play catch or let him run free, but the puzzling thing is on the leash he doesnt bother them at all he. Hi, I live in the UK. I have just got home from walking my 4 1/2 month old border collie puppy. She normally has good recall but will suddenly chase after people in the park barking aggressively a just totally ignores me. It seems to be men walking on their own. I have tried taking tasty treats t... Border collie puppy gets too excited/aggressive when trying to play in the garden.. but whenever we do not have treats for her, she just won't behave and ignores any commands she has learnt through treat based training. Do let me know if you have any questions to understand the situation further. 0 comments. My puppy, Kate, is really aggravating me... She sometimes ignores me when I call her to come to me, especially after we've been outside. I'll hold the door open and call for her and she'll come up on the porch but then seems to ignore me no matter what I do and just fart around like she does'nt even hear me.

I have a border collie as well who listens most of the time but also ignores me in favor of sticks and leaves. You could always try associating the sound with a high value treat so they'll assume they're getting chicken every time they hear it. Let's look at some common ways that owners inadvertently teach their dogs to ignore their name: Your command is repeated over and over when the dog is more motivated. A puppy has a short attention span and may become bored when you aren't playing with him, causing him to seek out other ways to entertain himself. Ignores people on walks (barked and lunged when young). We got Whiskey, a 9 week old border collie puppy, from a breeder and he was fear aggressive from the day we brought him home. We had so much to learn (still do) about Whiskey and about treating fear aggression. I am not even sure it is the same for all dogs as each dog has their own. Have a 10yr male altered Border Collie that was a puppy rescue but unfortunatley just thrown into a back yard with another dog. So now I’ve got him and he’s improved so much. A very good dog in the house, minds pretty well except: Had very bad dog domance agression. We’ve tried taking him to a dog park but he freaks out and wants to go. Border Collies, as we have since learned, can often be fearful. If you get a fearful Border Collie, you have a REAL problem on your hands. (See my blog about Journal of a Fear Aggressive Border Collie). It was obvious from the beginning that this puppy had issues but the breeder lied to us or was very unaware of what a fearful puppy is. The more-Border Collie one was obsessed with tennis balls up until his last day at age 13. If the dog is adopted, they might not have learned to play. I have senior adoptees, and the only one who plays is a herding dog mix of 11 who likes tug of war, catch the toy, and chase my feet.
